Marriage made in Heaven
Most girls dream of meeting their Mr right, their prince charming
sweeping them off their feet. Holly had met her prince, but did not
know it yet, but he didn’t sweep her off her feet that’s for sure.
Chapter 1
Holly worked at Crazy Curls as a hair and beauty specialist; she loved
her job; she also enjoyed going out and socialising with her friends. She
had bobbed Ash brown hair and blue eyes; she was an attractive young
woman and a good figure; she had a great sense of humour. Her Mr
right, Oliver Walker, a promising solicitor, he practised in family law,
and he wanted to become a partner in his firm for so long; He was
handsome with short light brown hair, dreamiest blue eyes you could
ever look in to.
Holly and Oliver had known each other a long time they had gone to
the same school in the village of Wheelton. Where they had grown up
together, still, he’d only ever seemed to see Holly as a friend.
Oliver had brought up Brian’s party; a mutual friend and inquired to
whether she was going. She was, he said; Holly was excited she thought
maybe Oliver had noticed at last. She made an extra effort to look extra
beautiful and smelt extra good.
Later evening at the party as they both mingled. Holly had seen Oliver
and went over to him, he mentioned that she looked beautiful, but that
was it, she even flirted with him a little, but nope nothing.
What was wrong with this man? What was wrong with her? She kept
asking herself. Why ask if she was going to the party if he wasn’t a little
interested in her she just couldn’t work this guy out.
A week or two passed since the party, Oliver had a great business
opportunity presented to him. He was pleased he’d been waiting for
this so long. For the past year at least; but there was a catch though;
they wanted him to be married or at least engaged somehow it seemed
to be more professional. In a blind panic, he blurted out he was
engaged to be married; he didn’t want to lose this opportunity. But
where was he going to get a fiancée from, he didn’t know, he didn’t
even a girlfriend never mind a fiancée. He was, so career-minded he
didn’t have time for girlfriends, what was he going to do? He needed to
think fast.
During lunch Oliver’s walked past Crazy Curls, he’d just happened to
look through the window. There she was; Holly, she was perfect, he
leaned up against the window of the shop and looked at her, and she
noticed him looking at her. So, she waved. He smiled and waved back
then he mouthed would “you like to go for dinner tonight” she wasn’t
sure what he was saying, so she went out to him.
“I said will you have dinner with me tonight
“Hmm… yeah that would be nice”
“I’ll pick you up Seven-Thirty”
Holly nodded with excitement she could not believe it; Oliver had just
asked her out to dinner. When she finished work, she rushed home to
get ready; Jumping in the shower and getting herself ready; putting on
her beautiful red figure-hugging dress on; she looked fantastic, she felt
fantastic.
Oliver picked her up in his black Porsche and headed off to the
restaurant he had booked; He told her that this was his favourite
restaurant. She was flattered that he had taken her to his favourite
place. She thought he had noticed her at long last, it must have been at
the party he had finally realised she was the girl for him. They talked
and talked; Oliver told her about being made a partner in his firm she
was pleased for him.
“Well, this is where I want to ask you a favour.”
“Oh, right, what?”
“I need a girlfriend, well a fiancée, what do you think,” he said so
innocently no tact just straight in.
“You need a fiancée?” Hollies nostrils started to flare
“Yeah”
She stood up and slapped him on his face, she was so angry she walked
out tears rolling down her face she couldn’t catch her breath for all the
sobbing. Oliver paid the bill and chased after her
“Holly… Holly”
“Go away.”
“Holly please I’m sorry I didn’t mean to offend you.”
“You ask me to dinner for a business proposal.”
“Yeah because I thought you were the perfect person.”
“Ugh!” she turned quickly on her heels and walked very quickly away;
she was so upset and angry; she could have thumped him.
Oliver stood dumfounded he didn’t see what was wrong; he didn’t
know the love Holly had for him and how much he had just hurt her.
She was heartbroken and told him never to bother her again.
She raced down the street tears falling with every step she took. When
she got home and got in to bed and she cried herself to sleep.
The next morning the doorbell rang Holly answered the door, there
was the biggest bouquet underneath was Oliver holding them.
“Please, I’m so sorry.”
Holly took the flowers from him and asked him if he wanted to come
in, he had a fatal charm and Holly couldn’t stay mad at him for long
“Am I Forgiven?”
“No not really” trying not to give in
“I was desperate.”
Holly shoved the flowers back in his arms, telling him to shove them
where the sun didn’t shine, with as much aggressiveness as she could
give.
“No…no… I didn’t mean that the way it sounded, oh shit.”
“What did you mean?”
He tried to explain; How he’d wanted this for a long time and when
they told that he wanted him to be married or at least in a steady
relationship he thought of no one better to play that part.
Holly sighed
“You want me to pretend to be your fiancée?”
“Yes, you are perfect. I trust you with my life so I couldn’t think of
anyone better.”
She sighed again and reluctantly agreed to do it, in her mind, she
thought this could be the way he may see that she was the girl for him.
When Oliver got an invite to dinner with the partners to discuss his
potential partnership, he was over the moon; they also wanted to meet
his fiancée. He told Holly about the meal, and she needed to attend it
with him.
She agreed and told him she needed a ring
“Oh yes I will get you one”
“I will have to obtain a dress and shoes”
“How much do you need?”
“I’ll buy my clothes thank you” she was very independent she did not
want or need Oliver to buy her clothes
Deciding to go shopping, she brought a close friend; Rita along with
her; She wanted her valued opinion on this matter.
Shop after shop, she just could not find the style she was looking to
buy, Rita suggested they go for a coffee, her feet were killing her, and
she was rather hungry too.
When they happened upon a small café; they decided to have their tea
out, and their discussions lead to what was going on; Rita couldn’t
believe that Holly was doing this for Oliver.
Holly couldn’t believe it herself, but she was in love with Oliver, and
she wanted him to be happy and hopefully fall in love with her along
the way.
When they had finished their meal, the two resumed their search for
the right dress; there it was in the shop window the one they had been
in twice already; deep royal blue chiffon dress with a lace neckline
sprinkled with little dimities; Holly went and tried it on
“Wow Holly that looks fabulous; it really shows off your figure
wonderfully, If Oliver doesn’t fall for you in that there something wrong
with him”
“Do you think so?”
“Oh yeah, you look beautiful.”
“There’s shoes and bag to go with it.”
Holly smiled at her Rita and went and paid for her items, setting off
back to Holly’s little terraced house where Holly and Rita cracked open
a bottle of red wine and watched the film with James Single; A film he
falls head over heels with the beautiful Mary Rogers, it was just Holly’s
kind of film as she thought of Oliver.
A few days later Oliver came to pick Holly up she looked stunning he
was taken back; he thought she looked beautiful. “Oh before I forget”
and handed her a box. She opened to find the most beautiful
engagement ring she had ever seen. Sliver halo paves set diamonds with
brilliant pear-shaped diamonds cradling the shoulders of the centre
stone he had thought about this. “I thought you might have gone for this
one if you had been picking it yourself.”
“Oh, Oliver, it’s beautiful.”
“Thank you for doing this it means a lot.”
Holly smiled
When they arrived at the restaurant, Oliver’s colleagues found Holly
not only beautiful but charming and witty; they loved her, Holly wasn’t
sure if this was going to work, they had to act like a loving couple she
was worried they might ask her something she wasn’t sure about and
how would she answer.
“She’s lovely,” Frank said to Oliver
“Yes, she is.”
“How long have you been together?”
“Oh…, uh., about; Four years.”
“You need to marry her before someone else snaps her up, Oliver!”
“Yea, I intent to”
The evening went exceptionally well, and they offered Oliver the
partnership, He was pleased, and the first person he told was Holly; He
couldn’t wait to tell her, he was that excited he took a bottle of the
champagne round with flowers and chocolates
“Hey, surprises; guess who got the partnership then?”
“Congratulations Oliver; that’s my part over.”
“No…no this is beginning.”
“Not for me you’ve got your partnership now my bit is done”
“Hmm no not quite in the excitement I set a date for our wedding.”
“You did what?”
“Yeah”
Holly went berserk; she started shouting “You did not even ask me if I
would do this; I helped you get your partnership that’s it.”
“Holly we can do this”
“Marriage…?”
“Yeah”
“Have you lost your marbles?”
“I know it a bit of a shock”
“A bit of a shock?!”
“I know it’s a little strange”
“It’s Strange all right,
Oliver explains it would be a marriage of convenience, and they would
make a good team, he would draw a contract up and everything would
be above board, if she agreed to be his wife.
Apart from thinking this was all ludicrous, she really didn’t know. She
didn’t realise that she would have to actually marry him; she wanted to
marry him because he loved her, not for a business opportunity.
“No, tell them we have broken up.”
“What….! No! No…!”
“What do I get out of this exactly apart from a loveless marriage?”
He told her that he would look after her; she would want for nothing”
“Oh is that right; well what about the sex.”
“You want sex? I mean”
“Yes!; I want sex, I like sex!” she interrupted, she couldn’t quite believe
she had just said that.
“Well, we.., uh.., we can be discreet about when we want to see other
people.”
It hadn’t even occurred that she has meant sex with him
“And…! What about children?”
“Oh, hmm you want children too?”
Holly sighed and looked at him with an angry look on her face her
patience was running thin
“You’re getting angry with me again, aren’t you?”
She started tapping her fingers on the table and biting her lips sighing
even more.
“Yep, you’re getting angry again.”
“Oh, you don’t say; you are the biggest jerk I’ve ever met.”
“We can sort out children and any other problems out later.”
“Get out!”
“Holly”
Holly shoved him towards the door pushing and poking him
“Holly… is that a yes.”
“Out!, out! …out!”
Oliver wasn’t sure if that was a yes or a no; and shouted through the
letterbox “was that a yes.”
She didn’t answer so he went home and thought he would go round the
next day.
Holly was so angry, but she did love him and wanted him to love her,
and there were no signs of that; he didn’t even bite when sex had been
mentioned, she didn’t know what to do about the marriage thing; she
wanted to get married and have children and be in love, a signed
agreement never entered her mind why would it.
The next day Oliver sat outside the hair crazy curls and waited there;
Holly was with friends from work they were heading for the café over
the road. Jess mentioned the handsome man in the posh car Holly,
and Sarah looked over
“Oh my god he is gorgeous,” Sarah said
“Oh yeah,” Holly said, “he’s my fiancé.”
Both girls looked at Holly with their mouth open then said in unison
“What! When did this happen?”
“Ohhhh… Yes few weeks ago.”
“We didn’t know you had a boyfriend, never mind engaged what a
secretive minx you are.”
Hollie laughed nervously thinking; ‘if you only knew’ “Hang on, girls.”
As she made her way over to the car; Oliver winked at her “get in.”
“No, I’m on my dinner break with my friends.”
“Ok; I’ll be around tonight we need to talk.”
“What!, what about? I think we said enough last night”
She was still angry with him; He smiled at her, then said “I’ll be at
yours at seven” then drove away.
Holly’s friends were all still in shock at how casually she told them she
was engaged not to mention the excitement at seeing the gorgeous
young man.
“Why have we never seen him,” Sarah asked
“You have never once mentioned him,” Jess said
They wanted to know how she’d kept this hunk of a man a secret, and
why?
“He’s so gorgeous he’s got it all, you lucky girl Hol” Sarah states
“He’s got a body made for sin, that what he’s got” Jess giggles
Later that evening; Oliver pulls up in his car.
He also brought Holly an agreement to sign, they had a long chat about
the marriage agreement, and he had come up with a solution to all
Holly’s niggling worries. Holly agreed and signed the deal.
They would be married for two years and if either one of them after
the two years wanted to end it they could, if for example one of them
met someone, its wasn’t what Holly had in mind when she thought
about it, she decided to go along with it.
Their wedding day came around really quickly
Holly had a big white wedding she always wanted, and Oliver played his
part, very much in love, and he played it very well; The only people
that knew it was all a fake were Holly’s best friend Rita and; Toby,
Oliver’s best friend. Even both sets of parents thought it was the real
thing, All of Oliver’s partners from the office were there too.
Holly also got the romantic honeymoon too, in Cyprus. Separate beds
of cause, He had thought of everything but one crucial thing: Romance!
They took their time to get to know each other accurately; likes and
dislikes, that sort of thing, just so they didn’t have any complicated
moments arise.
