Chapter 5
Holly and Oliver’s agreement was nearly up, Holly was going to tell
Oliver that she didn’t want to renew it.
They both came in from work Oliver asked her if she wanted to go out
“Oh, I’m sorry I’m meeting someone.”
“Boyfriend….? I saw you the other night I saw you with that guy. Is that
who you are going out with tonight?”
She didn’t answer; she quickly came back with “What about
tomorrow.”
“Yeah, that’ll be good tomorrow then.”
Holly had thought it was to talk about their agreement.
The following evening, Oliver suggested that they go to the restaurant
where they went to the very first time. He ever took her out; it was a
charming restaurant; romantic setting candlelit table in the corner.
Holly was a bit shocked when they went in, they were seated at their
table; Oliver ordered a bottle of wine; he stressed that they needed to
talk.
“About our agreement… it’s nearly up.”
She still wanted Oliver to fall in love with her. Still, it wasn’t going to
happen she had come to accept it, and she decided it was time to move
on; Maybe she could have a relationship with Craig see where that
would lead.
“It’s so lovely here… it’s so cute to spend any time with my friend.”
“Friends?” he hesitated
“Oliver, I know why you wanted to come out tonight.”
“Do you?”
“Yeah, it’s about the agreement, isn’t it?
“No”
“Oh, I thought…; well I don’t want to renew the agreement, I’m sorry.”
“Why?”
“We want different things.”
“Oh, I see.”
“So, when the agreement is up, we should file for divorce”
“Holly, I”… he hesitated to change his sentence “Of cause, I
understand.”
Oliver was quite the rest of the night.
Holly noticed how quiet Oliver was she assumed it was because she
didn’t want to renew the agreement, she asked him if he was alright and
he told her that he was fine. When they got in, he told her he was going
to bed and off he went; Holly found it quite bizarre.
Oliver got into bed and lay, staring up at the ceiling. He didn’t know
what to do, he had fallen in love with Holly, and now he could lose her.
His light was still on when Holly made her way to her bedroom.
She knocked on his door. “Yep” Oliver responded
“May I come in?”
“Yeah”
“Are you ok?”
“Yeah I’m fine, you’ve asked me this.”
“Yeah but I’m concerned you went quiet at dinner.”
“Holly, sit down “as he patted the bed
Holly sat on the side of the bed and looked at Oliver; she loved him so
much; she’d hoped this would turn in to a proper marriage.
“I hope you are happy” as he reaches to move her hair that had flopped
into her face
“Yes, I’m happy.”
“Good”
“Good night then.”
“Good night Holly.”
He wanted to touch her so much, make love to her; he wanted to show
her how he felt; But he thought this guy was the reason she wanted to
end the agreement.
He was quiet at breakfast too, all though he did mention Pete’s baby’s
christening, that they had an invitation to, Pete, one of the partners, had
just had a baby girl, and he was having a big christening for her.
He had invited some people from two of the branches Martin was
going to be there, Vince, Harry and Frank were also going with their
wives.
The following week.
The christening service was lovely; the baby was so cute, Holly just had
to make a big fuss of her, Oliver watched her excitement over the baby
he could see how much she would like one of her own, she would
make a fabulous mum to his children but that wasn’t going to happen,
it wouldn’t be long before he would lose her.
Martin had spotted Holly and went over
“Hi Holly”
“Oh, hello Martin; how are you?”
“Yeah good, I have just met the girl of my dreams.”
“Oh, that’s lovely is she here.”
“Yeah I will introduce you to her”
Oliver’s green-eyed monster was showing when he had spotted Martin
with Holly, he made his way over he wrapped his arms around Holly’s
waist and pulled her to him and kissed her cheek he’d had a bit too
much drink and played his part exceptionally well tonight. Only he
wasn’t playing
“Here she is the love of my life.”
“Where have you been?”
“To the gents my love, now we are going to get up on the dance floor.”
Holly laughed a nervous laugh just then Martin’s girlfriend came over,
and Martin introduces Sara to Holly and Oliver.
“Well hello, Sara I’m just about to take my beautiful wife to the dance
floor.”
Sara smiled
“Catch ya later” as he grabs Holly’s hand leading her to the dance floor
he gripped her tight he didn’t want to let her go; Holly wondered what
had gotten into him he was so close, it must be the drink she thought
he was that close she could feel his hot breath on her neck his lips
would touch her skin now and then
“Holly” he whispered
“Yes”
“We make a great team.”
“That we do.”
“I, I,”
“What?”
“I want us to stay married”
“Oliver, we agreed two years”
“But things change”
“No…”
“But I….” just at that moment Burt and Glen dragged him away before
he could finish his sentence “Holly, I love you” but she hadn’t heard
him she’d had walked away before he got it out of his mouth, Sara
smiled and pointed out they looked very much in love Martin said
“Yeah they are”
The rest of the evening everyone wanted seemed to want to talk to
Oliver and he couldn’t get back to where he was with Holly. When
they got back to their room Holly went into the bathroom to get
changed and got into bed Oliver started to take his shirt off he turned
facing Holly and stared at her in silence then clambered on the bed on
all fours and hovered over her looking deep into her eyes
“You are so beautiful.”
“Thank you, and you are drunk.”
He laughed and replied, “Yes I am… but you are beautiful; I want to.”
She wondered where this was going; suddenly he dropped face-first on
top of her. she rolled him over on the other side of the bed, he was fast
asleep. The next morning neither of them mentioned the night before.
The months rolled by, there was just a month to go before their
agreement was up. Holly decided to stay over at Rita’s she didn’t get
back till the morning she thought that Oliver would already be at work,
but he wasn’t he was waiting for her; And assumed she had been at a
guy’s house, and when she came in he demanded to know where she’d
been
“At Rita’s”
“Don’t lie to me; you are still my wife.”
“I beg your pardon.”
“You heard me.”
“Don’t talk to me like that”
“You are still my fuckin wife Holly!”
“Only for another month Oliver!”
“You’ve been with him, haven’t you?”
“You are such an arsehole.”
“What?”
“You, you are such arse; you make me sick you don’t own me; this is
just a marriage of convenience and it nearly over.”
She pushed passed him; she couldn’t believe he was like this with her; it
wasn’t as if he wanted her, he was just angry that she didn’t want to
renew their agreement, Oliver followed her upstairs
“Don’t walk away from me Holly” and grabbed her arms
She looked at him and pulled her arms out of his grip “Don’t grab me
like that again.”
“What like this?” and grabbed her again, and he pulled her close
looked into her eyes; She pulled away again, she wasn’t sure what he
was playing at. “What are you doing Oliver?”
He pulled her even closer and kissed her
That seem to She stops her dead; she couldn’t say anything she just
looked at him, and he leaned in and kissed her again
“Holly.”
“What?”
“I don’t want you to see him again. I don’t want you to leave me.”
“Is this your bloody career again? You told me you would be fine with
this after the two years; I want to have a proper relationship.”
“Yes…! With, me.”
“I don’t,” She said stuttering
“Tell me; you love me back.”
“No! Oh God, yes, I do” sighing as she confesses “I have always loved
you, Oliver but you don’t want me do you?”
He pulled her close, put his fingers through her hair, and kissed her
passionately. She responded equally as passionate
“Does that answer your question? I love you Holly”
“I don’t want you to see that guy anymore. Because we need to get on
with the rest of our lives; we have some catching up to do.”
That evening Oliver came home with a dozen red roses and a bottle of
champagne.
He took her hand and pulled her and kissed her. “I want you so much
we are going to make love all night” Holly sighed with joy.
She couldn’t believe he had fallen for her; all her dreams had come
true; she had finally gotten her prince charming, and he was about to
sweep her off her feet.
He scooped her up from her feet, just like something out of a romantic
novel; Gallantly carries her upstairs, he gently placed her on the bed
hovering over her looking at seductively slowly undoing the buttons on
her blouse.
As he kissed her, his hands moved over her breasts slowly moving
down to her navel, gently navigating his hands down the rest of her
body; she trembled from his touch. She could hardly breathe with her
excitement as his finger traced her lips; before his lip’s descended upon
them; as he kisses her, deeper, her heart raced.
She had waited for this moment for such a long time, it had seemed
like forever; as they began to make love too tenderly; their bodies
moved together in a steady rhythm, it was everything she had dreamt, it
would be.
